Twin CIties Live With Elizabeth Ries

Fun times at Twin Cities Live! Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to take pictures yesterday in the studio at TCL as it was such a rush to get all of my displays set up in time. 2 car loads full of props to set up in 3 different party displays…all in less than 40 minutes. Luckily, we finished all of the last details in just enough time and I had a few minutes to touch up in the make-up room and change into my heels. What a busy day! I wish I would have had time to shoot some of the details in the TCL studio — but I will catch up on some close-ups and share a list of tips/tricks that were covered on the show here in the next few days.

I did grab this one picture with Elizabeth + my wonderful assistants, Ava and Madelyn, on set. Thankfully, the girls reminded me to take a picture after we had packed up the 2 cars. I was so busy throughout the day that I didn’t get a chance for any other captures. At least it’s all taped (segment link is in the following post)…

Many thanks to Twin Cities Live for having me on the show today! The producers were wonderful to work with and I appreciate all the help from the great crew in the studio. 8 minutes went by fast, but it was fun to share party ideas and inspiration with Minnesota! Elizabeth and Dez were awesome, of course…love those girls!

A very special thanks to my favorite party girls + amazing assistants, Ava and Madelyn. How fun to have them make their television debut on the party segment! Their fascination and wonder of it all made the experience all the better.

Oh my goodness!! My love to all of you wonderful, supportive friends!! So thankful for all the kind words in texts, posts, and calls. If you’d like to see more ideas and inspiration, plan to catch me on Twin Cities Live next Friday (4/5/13). I will be sharing a little bit more about the retro pool party and also talking about some other fun ideas for childrens’ celebrations as well. My concept is always simple/easy/fun so everything I share will be accessible and easy to replicate (with your own spin). It seems a bit strange to be appearing on 2 TV shows talking about party planning! I’m not a pro (and have no plans to be)…I just like to put together fun memories for my kids whenever there happens to be time to do so. My favorite celebrations are the small + simple ones (camp outs in the backyard, ice cream with friends on the last day of school, sleepovers with cousins, etc). Nothing over-the-top…but always a few special details to make it memorable. Many thanks to all of you!

AND because a post without a picture is never complete…here we are on the Brooklyn Bridge. The 3 of us are spending a few extra days in NY! Love this city!

TODAY was awesome! Every bit of it. I met so many wonderful people and saw all behind the scenes. Just finished up and now we’re off to take Madelyn ice skating at Rockefeller Center. Thank you all for amazing support!! I greatly appreciate every bit of encouragement.

It’s an exciting week! I’m off to NY for an appearance on the TODAY show!! Tune in Tues 3/26 at 9:15 am (NBC). I will be sharing details about a retro pool party we hosted at the Arizona Grand in a segment on “best party themes in America”. Studio 1A, Rockefeller Center…on my way!

I want to extend HUGE THANKS to those who have helped me organize the TODAY show piece: LoraLee Lewis, Little Retreats, SarahQhappybooths, CookieXchange, Jaime Mancilla (AFeteBeckons), and Great Useful Stuff. I will be posting vendor credits and further info about each business on my blog later this week (so all the details will be available after the TODAY segment).

Pancakes + Pajamas-
a slumber party/valentines celebration for cousins

The girls built a giant bed fort…
painted nails….
rolled hair up in curlers….
played spa….
made heart shaped crafts…
ate sweet treats…
jumped on beds…
had a dance party…
snapped some pics…
played games…
made gumball necklaces…
topped cupcakes with little conversation hearts…
and watched valentine movies until every last one fell asleep.

In the morning we had a grand pancake breakfast with a buffet of toppings.
