Just a glimpse for now.  Our poolside photo booth went over so well!  The kids had so much fun picking out their props and making funny faces.  I will share details (and many more pictures) a bit later.

Giant yellow sun umbrellas…sparkling blue water…finding shade under a cabana…sipping cool drinks…watching children splash in the pool…soaking the sun on an oversized lounge chair…there’s nothing like a pool party to make perfect summer memories.   We have hosted 2 parties this summer in an attempt to beat the heat.  As usual, I took way too many pics at both events and will need time to catch up.  For now, here’s a peek at the fun we had with the girls’ preschool friends (and their families)…

Party Tip:  Make sure to get pictures of your children before all the party guests arrive.  Once they meet up with friends they will have no interest in photo ops.

I shot these pics of the girls an hour before the party – they were excited and fresh so happy to give me some camera love ;)

On the agenda: swim and play!  Simple toys like water balloons, hula hoops, bubbles, squirt guns, and dive-sticks kept the kids entertained.   They had more fun with the 5o cent squirt guns than anything else.

We also had a poolside photo booth (soooo fun)!  Check it out here.

On the menu:

Snow cones (make your own!)

Banana Split Minis

Pool Sharks

PB&J sandwich packs (is that not always the perfect snack for hungry bellies after pool time?)

Cake

Freeze Pops

Variety of beverages

Notice the bubble refill station?  Fill your own bubble bottles are a huge hit with the preschool crowd.  Not a bad idea for everyday summertime fun either – we  have kept a station on our back porch for the last few months.

My favorite bubble recipe:

1 part dishwasher soap (Dawn brand is said to be best)
8 parts water
1/4 part glycerin
(available in pharmacies)

Stir the ingredients together and leave the solution in an open container for several hours. This gives the alcohol in the dishwashing soap a chance to evaporate.

The style for this party was inspired by the Loralee Lewis Sweetie Swimcap Collection and I have fallen in love with her entire product line.  Party planning has never been so fun!  Loralee offers fabulous designs, amazing details, and exceptional service.  I have enjoyed working with her so much on the planning of this pool party.

I have had several requests lately about photographing birthday parties so I’ve created a package to do so.  Here’s the deal…

Invite me to your party!  I will show up an hour early and take some unique and memorable pictures of the birthday child and family together (while everyone is still ‘fresh’ and not distracted by all the excitement yet)…then I will stay throughout the party and capture the celebration details as they unfold.  I will catch great moments that you may not even notice otherwise.  I will stick with you to the very end.  The only thing I won’t do is clean up the mess (although I may take pictures of it)!

After the party, you get a full CD of all the images with favorites professionally edited!  What a great keepsake.

Bonus!  You know I love to make collages.  Well, here’s the thing.  Collages are awesome for birthday parties because you can see the series of images together and they tell a story about the event.  Great for baby/birthday books…wall display…anything!

The fab deal is this:  custom photography before, during and after your party with a full resolution CD of the all the images…only $340!  Too good to be true, I know.  The thing is:  I am just so excited about this new venture so I’m making it irresistable.  I am supremely motivated to obtain awesome party images so my ambition = a great opportunity for you.

note: This offer is only available for a short time as I build my ‘event’ photography portfolio

Capture moments like this…

How cute is she?

cakeblog

Celebrating with a cake… ready to make a big mess!  Before we see that, notice the adorable outfit!  The fancy hat, ruffle pants, and ’1′ shirt are all Mady and Lu items and available for purchase…or you can just borrow them for your KA photo session.

Does this background look familiar?  Sorry about the overload on lime polka dots here on this blog post (since they match the background and all).  So, here’s the story.  Mom wanted something fun and fresh for her daughter’s 1st birthday milestone (with pink and green colors to match her room).  She mentioned that she loved the green polka dot background on my blog and asked if I had a similiar backdrop.  Hmmm…that got me thinking and I told her I’d do my best.  I love when clients bring up ideas…it’s fun to follow up with what they have in mind and make it happen.  I was happy to challenge myself and then pull through for her with this end result.  She was quite amazed to get exactly what she asked for.

Just take a look at this goofy little girl!  She is just bursting with gleeeee…thrilled to dig her little fingers into that cake!

Thanks for the fun, sweet girl!  Wishing you a splendid birthday!

Your galley will be up shortly…

celebrate! happy 4th of july!

An American classic photo session.  Here’s sweet little ‘L’ – celebrating her 4th birthday and the 4th of july.  Isn’t this dress perfect?  I have had this site in mind for something fun and when L’s mom showed me this dress I knew it was finally time to shoot at this location.  I love how they turned out.  ‘L’ is just amazing – you can just see her energy+beauty full out in these images.

So, here I am…blogging!  Thanks for all the encouragement to get this started.  I never thought the day would come.  I will do my best to keep updates here.  More to come once I get this figured out a bit.

Thank you for the great energy and fun, sweet girl!
