Here we are…Halloween already! How did we get here so fast?
I’m so exicted for the fun this weekend (costumes & candy…two of my very favorite things)! We’ve already gone through more candy than I will ever admit to. I’ve purchased bags for trick or treaters more than once already and they are long gone.
And who can pass up candy corn (espcially the Autumn mix)? The girls love the ’I don’t like candy corn’ song from Noggin but ‘M’ changes the words to say ‘I really do like candy corn’. I soooo agree with her!

Sweets and treats are to be celebrated! Here’s a couple pics to go with that thought…

Happy Halloween! Enjoy the festivities and the fun!

I have a bit of an obsession with stylish hats for children. You’ve seen all sorts of styles in my pictures: marabou…big flowers…rosettes…knits…you name it. I am always on the hunt.
I was quite happy to discover a new variety of hats that one of my college friends, Laurie, is now offering in a new business that she has recently launched: Marilie Jean.
Laurie’s concept is perfect. She offers interchangable options: hats and headbands with mix and match interchangeable flowers. All hats come with attaching velcro to change out the flower color. Perfect coordination for any outfit in an instant. How awesome is that? There are a variety of styles and you will see a lot of Marili designs around here in the near future.
Here’s a peek:
This one is the newsboy style (my favorite)…

I am loving your idea, Laurie! The trade out system is so smart. Congrats on your new business! I am so happy to partner up with you for your photography needs.
Note: There will be many more pictures of Laurie’s awesome designs in the following weeks. For today, I am sticking with just 2 simply because I am working on a new monitor and am not yet calibrated (photog friends will get it). This will be accomplished on Tuesday so after that I will feel more confident about posting pictures once I know that my color is right on. Once this monitor is calibrated, you will see more color images. Until then, I’ll stick with more B&W than usual. Forgive me if the color looks off. I will fix it as soon as I have the calibration complete.
By the way, these hats must be really comfortable because little ‘J’ kept it on with no convincing. That’s always the true test. There are many hats that don’t make it for longer than 2 seconds.

Watch for more soon!
Happy shopping!

I had a really fun session over the weekend with 2 best friends (ages 12 & 13) and I’m tortured in not being allowed to share just yet. Problem is this: I am on a new monitor and not yet calibrated so am forced to stick with BW images for the next few days (I may dare to post a couple in color but you will have to forgive me if the images look yellow…or blue…or worse. What I see on my screen is so much different than what I am used to working with so it will take a few days to get it right.
Anyway, the session with the 2 girls was fun and colorful. More about that later. For now, I will share just a few in B&W.

The series below is better in color so I’ll post again after the calibration is complete.

I love this age. The girls were smart, creative, and full of laughter. They were also happy to try anything and everything. Lucky day for me!

Congrats are in order for this newly engaged duo! They were engaged just last week and already have a photo shoot checked off the list – way to get things done! We had a wonderful morning walking around a few of my favorite locations and also hanging out at Erynn &Ray’s home.
I’ve gotta hand it to Ray – he is NOT AT ALL into the idea of getting his picture taken and I put him up to a a few crazy ideas. He may not love the camera but he is crazy about Erynn – and that made for good pictures.
Ray, Thanks for agreeing to go along with all of my suggestions…even though it’s not your thing. I hope it was a much better experience than you were expecting (I sure had fun)! I think we got some great pictures. Enjoy!

I have been working on more pics for some of my favorite designers in recent weeks. It turns out that you love the designer spotlight as much as I do. I’ve heard great feedback and word is that the featured items are selling really well. Wonderful to hear this! I love to support handmade vendors that have an eye for style. Fashion + photography go hand in hand (great clothing looks awesome in pictures — and in turn, captivating pictures help sell clothing). I am so happy to partner with such talented, inspired designers — and have the opportunity to share them with you!
You will see more of this dress (and other great items) a bit later. There are so many pictures that I’ve done for this particular designer so I’ll share just a few now and others later.

There will be a couple awesome designers featured over the next few weeks…perfect timing for holiday shopping! Keep an eye out for style.
Also – modeling opportunities are available. If you are interested in having your child model unique and fabulous clothing, please contact me. I will keep a list of names, ages, interests, etc. and match your child up with designs that best reflect their personality.

A sunday afternoon.
Rolling around in the grass during a visit to a local farm.
The sun was sweet.
My girl was happy.
A click on my camera caught this.

The Ampersand says it all, yes – it does!
These 2 go together like all the greats: Mickey & Minnie…PB & J…Dumb & Dumber…Brad & Angelina…Homer & Marge…milk & cookies…Mario & Luigi…Wine & Cheese…Ross & Rachel (I miss friends)…you get the idea!
No more needs to be said…just look at these 2:

Good lucks, don’t ya think?
These two make my job soooooooo easy. They are practically pros. DJ was actually the face on the cover of the ASU fall semester coupon book this semester (over 100,000 copies in circulation)…maybe you’ve seen his face before!

If I leave out a collage, it just wouldn’t be the same. You have all come to expect this of me…
How cute they are!

J & DJ, thank you! You 2 are naturals in front of the camera and it was awesome to shoot this mini session with you (only 1/2 hour of sunlight to work with but we made use of every minute). If you’re up for a 2nd mini session, let me know!

Last year I bought a wall hanging that was the classic version of the iconic ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ propaganda poster that was originally commissioned during WWII as assurance from King George VI that all necessary measures were being taken to protect the people. Today it seems just as relevant and reassuring.
After a long day yesterday, I came home to discover a computer virus. Oh, the stress!
I had to have my computer completely cleaned out and start back in it’s original state as it had just come out of the box. Thank goodness for 24 customer assistance – I was able to stay connected to help (sometimes good, others not so much) throughout the night. I started at 6 pm in the recovery process and finally ended my last phone call at 2 am. Not that this is a unique thing…I know you’ve all been there before!
Thankfully, I maintain backups of my work so I am not in huge trouble…just set back a bit in getting it all sorted and re-installed. This all takes so much time! And then, of course, there are many kinks along the way. It always goes that way!
It’s time for a new computer, yes.
Anyway, as I was reviewing files to see if all the external hard drive files were in tact, I came upon a few pictures from San Diego. Just looking through a couple of these images made my heart slow down a bit (as you can imagine, there was great anxiety running through me in fear of what files had been lost). I love the ocean (who doesn’t?) and also the memories of my girls playing at the beach. Instant calm.
Relax this weekend. Let your stress go in whatever way you do that best. Enjoy the moments of your weekend!

Also, my public service announcement to photog friends: don’t forget to back-up regularly. When these kinds of things happen it is our saving grace. The idea of any of us losing hundreds of thousands of millions of hours of work is too horrible to imagine.

Just completed an awesome session with 2 adorable hula hooping sisters!
Can’t wait to get to work on the pics but had to flash this one as a teaser. How fun is this?
