Be sure to ‘like’ KA photo design on facebook for all the info (and extras)!

The KA photo blog automatically feeds into facebook so you can see updates on specials and features in your news feed.  Plus, there will soon be facebook extras that are not posted on the photo blog.

PLUS – a chance to win a free photo session!  I will be selecting one FB fan to win a free session at the end of June.  The winner will receive my “Creative session Package” + 2 complimentary full-res digital images (value $360).  The creative session package includes a 2 hour session at the location of your choice (in the greater Phoenix area) with approximately 30-40 images in your private online gallery.  Not from AZ?  It’s OK – if you are in another state, you are still eligible.  You can still win a session but would have to pay travel fees (unless I will be on a photo trip to your area anyway).

One year ago: a fabulous family get-away to Cali…

So crazy to look back and see how things change in one year (and how others stay the same).  In some ways it feels like this was last week – and then I look at baby J and realize how much she has grown. At the time of this trip she wasn’t walking steadily enough to master the sand so she crawled along the beach.  So funny to see how she is on all fours doing a bear crawl in some of our pictures and to think that last month in Maui she was running and jumping in the ocean waves!

And, of course a collage series…

This has been the HOT seller for my clients this spring.  I have made many wall canvas collage prints in the last few months using anywhere from 4-42 images on one display.  I will have to post pictures soon to show various examples.   I have so much blogging to catch up on!  The busier you get, the less time you have to post all the details online.  One of my summer goals is to transfer images hidden away in files on my computer to the blog and website.  I have not updated my photo portfolio for months (and when I look through it there is a great urgency to update and revise).

It’s a dry heat…

As Phoenicians, we hear these words all summer long.  We repeat this phrase day after day for encouragement to survive the 100+ degree temperatures.  It really helps to think this way (we have no humidity in AZ and it’s good to remember that we have this in our favor).

The good news about this summer is we are having a slow start with the blazing hot temps.  So far, soooo good!  The end of May is near and so far it’s been a great summer.  I know we have some challenges ahead with hot car seat buckles and long days cooped up in the AC…but today I am thankful for the unexpected ease of May.  We are one month spared from the hot desert heat and I’m loving it.

Remember the PRESCHOOL ROCKS tee  featured in the designer spotlight early this year?

Good news…Liz (the creative designer of Daisy Creek) is now offering a giveaway!  Simply leave a comment on this post and you will be eligible to win a tee of your choice (Liz can personalize text so anything goes…kindergarten rocks, my dad rocks, etc).  How fun!  Check out the shop at etsy.com/shop/dasiycreek

Winners will be selected through random.org (the modern way of drawing a name out a hat).  I will post the winners on Saturday, May 22 at 6 pm.

Remember, no facebook comments will be entered (give-aways and contests are not allowed on facebook so please leave your comment on the KA photo design blog).

My daughter and her friends love these t-shirts.  They are sparkly and stylish: exactly what four year old fashionistas love.  Check out the other designs at etsy.com/shop/dasiycreek

It’s beeen awhile since I’ve shared some ideas for coordinating your family session so here’s an update.

What should we wear? Always the big question in planning a family photo session.  The collections you see here are simply for inspiration (please don’t go out shopping to hunt down the exact pieces you see here…not a fun task). The easiest way to plan clothing for a family photo shoot is to use the same approach as if you were putting a single outfit together. Make sure the colors blend and compliment – but mix it up a bit and make it fun. Once you have the main pieces coordinated (like you see here) consider adding a few extras (a statement necklace for mom, a knitted hat for one of the kiddos, etc).

p.s. If you are having a slow start, pick one pattern piece and pull the colors from that piece to put everything else together. Notice in this collection all of the colors are pulled from the little girls colorful dress.

Today I photographed some new pics for Gorno Couture (Lisa has come up with some fabulous new colors and styles for the favorite initial shirt).    Super cute!

Watch for images soon!

Just a glimpse of some things in the works today:

Maui photo sessions…

a newborn homecoming…

Printing new client CDs!  I’ve learned that 99% of you want digital images so I’m working on new packages and planning to organize my pricing structure with this in mind.  I want you to have the freedom to print your images as you please (use them and love them).  You should not have to agonize over whether to order a 5×7 or 8×10 — print what you like whenever you want.   Watch for more info on new packages coming soon.

Just a few more to go from a session with these cute cousins….

Also: designer spotlight photos and a few give-aways (coming soon!)

In honor of Mother’s day I am pleased to offer a mom’s love discount for all sessions booked by a mom (or for a mom) throughout the month of May.

$50 off your creative fee (session fee) for any sessions booked in May (the session can take place at any time but must be reserved and paid for in May in order to hold your date).

Happy Mother’s Day!
