pool time + delicious cookies + loads of SPF = fabulous day with my little girls

Glamour rings: package of 12 for $3.99 makes this little girl very happy.

The greatest challenge of this relaxing day was keeping the girls lathered up in sunscreen.  It is a major battle to get them covered up.  I tried lotions, sprays, and rub-on sticks…all attempts had the girls running away from me.   Finally I sat them in the shade and offered cookies in exchange for their compliance.  Bribery often works wonders.

Just back from Maui and catching up on things…

If you sent an email or web inquiry in the last week I will get back to you asap.   Thanks for your patience during my catch up time!

This was my 2nd photo shoot with the Murphy family and it was wonderful to catch up with them again.  Last year we did a family session in their home and this time they opted for an outdoor location.  We had a fabulous afternoon trying out a location that I’ve had my eye on for weeks.

I bought this Hawaiian patchwork blanket at PB several years ago and I LOVE it.  The color + comfort = perfection.  I have actually used this blanket as the inspiration for decorating most of our home.

I love the sunflare on this one!

Can you see the LOVE between these two?  They are a beautiful couple.  I took many pics of just the 2 of them because they looked happiest close together.  After many years of marriage they are so strongly connected.  I love these images.

Murphy family – Thank you for the great afternoon!  You are all so easy going and fun to hang out with.  I am the luckiest girl in the world to spend time with families like you, have fun adventures (taking pictures all the while)…and call it my job.  Can’t wait til next time!  XO, Kelly

filed under: snapshot variety

In honor of the Masters tournament I will post this today.  Pics were taken weeks ago but I’ll share today in the spirit of the Masters (and Tiger’s comeback).

Golf is a year-round activity in AZ (yes, the summer play is HOT but most people don’t let the heat stop them). My husband and his friends play at any temperature (they say that cold beer and carts with misters help a great deal). Spring, of course, is the high time for golf — the weather is absolute perfection and orange blossoms are blooming everywhere (my FAVORITE smell ever).

We’ve taken the girls out a few times this spring to a little 9-hole course behind our house to practice on the putting green. They always have a blast with Tony’s putting challenges and goofing around with the mini flags.  They are still using the Minnie Mouse plastic golf clubs (thank goodness…they swing the clubs around so crazily!). I think we’ll stick with the giant-sized plastic clubs for at least another year. Tony is anxious to get them started in Jr. golf but I’m not sure they are ready for ‘real’ clubs. Thoughts?

Little J was ready to dive in the water but I told her to sit at the edge for just a minute so I could get her water wings.  I also grabbed my camera and took a very quick shot.  That serious little face — all about business (I want to get in the water NOW…and I’m about to show you how crabby I can get).

She is so smitten with her flapper suit and swim hat this spring.  She insists on wearing it around the house most every day (pool plans or not).  Can’t blame her – how ADORABLE is this suit? I can’t stop hugging and kissing my little flapper cutie.

Just one from today’s early morning photo session…

Danika is my friend from college and is in town from CO with her hubby and sweet little girl. We spent some time on the golf course this morning (dodging golf balls) and also went to another one of my favorite locations downtown. More to come soon!

Wonderful to see you D!

Be inspired!

One to watch: Christina Holm-Sandok

Just wanted to share a fabulous new site with you today.  My very talented and creative friend, Christina Holm-Sandok, is launching a portfolio site that showcases her editorial and styling work in the fashion and beauty industry.  Christina was the Fashion + Beauty Director for Twin Cities Statement Magazine. In addition, she is a Wellness & Spa editor for Examiner.com as well as a contributing fashion editor for two Texas-based lifestyle magazines. In all, she has over 400 pages of published editorial work and has appeared on countless television shows showcasing the latest trends.

Christina is a girl after my own heart.  She has a passion for creative expression and loves to make people look and feel beautiful.   We also have a great deal in common in regard to what inspires us (especially color, texture, and light).

As a photographer, I often think of myself as somewhat of a stylist.  I work with clients to determine the perfect location, clothing, and style of each photo shoot.  Evey session is unique and shaped by the family that has selected me to document their life story.

In the coordination of each commission, I seek inspiration from many sources.  I pour through magazines and take note of what stylists are doing with professional models.  My goal is to make people look and feel beautiful on the inside and outside.

Christina’s site is one of my favorite places to look around and be inspired.  She has wonderful fashion knowledge and an adventurous style.   She is definetly one to watch!

Check out her new site at ChristinaHolmSandok.com and BE INSPIRED!

Christina – Congrats and Best Wishes!  You are so very talented and I always love to hear of your creative ideas.  So happy for you (and proud too)!

XOXO, Kelly
